Can you imagine what it would have been like growing up in Australia under John Howard's Prime Ministership and the rise of Pauline Hanson, when your father was from the Philippines or China and your mum was from Australia. Being half Asian could have set you up for more than your fair share of attention in those strange days.
In Between Two is a powerful articulation by two of Australia’s trailblazing Hip stars TZU’s Joelistics and ARIA-nominated producer James Mangohig. With a backdrop resembling a family slide night set to some wicked beats with clever rapping along with some grooved out tunes this is a hip hop experience like no other. Ingeniously written and delivered with great wit and emotion, you get to feel what it’s like to stand in someone else’s shoes and experience the shallowness of anti-Asian rhetoric whether it’s dished up by ignorant school kids or trolled out as an excuse for news as a soundbite. This has been well received with rapturous applause as it has been played out to audiences across the Country. With the current tour winding up, don’t miss out on catching this show at one of the final performances at the wonderful Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre on Tuesday 9th April. A must see for anyone who digs Hip Hop or witty observations of Australian Life.
