Emerging rock band Grill are bringing a new sound to Sydney with their new single "Heart of the City". Originally, from Woodford and the Northern Beaches, Grill has gained a committed following all around Sydney, with their high octane performance bravado accompanied with killer trademark improvised grooves. With the drop of their debut single ‘Heart of the City’ listeners are set to sizzle. Don’t miss the official release of ‘Heart of the City’ live at The Factory Theatre in Marrickville on Sat 7th April. Doors open 8pm.
A night not to be missed, the song begins with a homage to modern jazz fusion, contrasting the bright and lively guitar melody with lush chordal accompaniment.
The lyrics describe the bitter sweet harmony between living in the city and the peaceful serenity of their homes (Blue Mountains and Northern beaches).
With the verse speaking of the mixed experiences within the chaotic metropolitan life whilst the chorus illustrates the crimson autumn leaves and the
saline breeze of the harbour, a reminiscence of home. The solos conclude the comparison and their awareness of the coherent nature of the city.
After gigging throughout 2017 across Sydney, Newcastle and Melbourne, Grill will be releasing their first full length album in May, 2018.
“Not just a band that rocks, but a band that makes you think”, Willem, host of Retro Rehash ('Blue Mountains Radio').
