Sunday Session Showcases Jazz from Mike Nock Trio

After successfully launching onto the local live music scene with a sensational show from The Catholics, the 'Sunday Sessions' continue with jazz heavyweight group Mike Nock Trio ready to perform this September.

On Sunday September 17th surround your senses with Nock’s infectious musical energy and enthusiasm. Pianist/composer Mike Nock’s career has spanned a broad range of contemporary music genres and he is widely recognised as an important voice in Australian modern music. Mike spent 25 years in the USA working, touring and recording with many of the world’s top jazz artists, and has been the recipient of many awards and honours over his lengthy career, including Australia’s most valuable individual music award - the Don Banks Music Award. In 2009, he was inducted into the Bell Awards Australian Jazz Hall of Fame and in 2004 presented with the New Zealand Order of Merit (ONZM). His current trio features bassist Brett Hirst and drummer James Waples and is regarded as one of the top modern jazz groups in Australasia.

Local Sunday Sessions have proven quite popular, consistently delivering some of the best original music from exceptional artists to the area. Sunday Sessions is presented by the Blue Mountains Theatre and Live At The Village.

Sunday Sessions presents the Mike Nock Trio, 2pm, Sunday 17 September, at the Blue Mountains Theatre, 106 Macquarie Road Springwood. Tickets are Full $36, Concession $32. Tickets can be purchased in person at the Box Office, via phone 4723 5050 or online at www.bluemountainstheatre.com.
