The Joan has your music fix for February! Enter a night of celebration and relive Carole King’s masterpiece, Tapestry, performed by two of Australia’s most loved vocalists – Vika Bull and Debra Byrne – one-night-only – Friday 9th February, 7:30pm.
Tapestry – The Songs of Carole King is a spirited, immersive experience that draws your auditory senses back to the monumental 1971 album – Tapestry by Carole King. Tapestry is regarded as one of the most important pop albums of the 20th century, charting No.1 on the Billborad 200 charts for a whopping 15 weeks and selling over 25 million copies worldwide.
Tapestry was King’s house of mega hits with I Feel the Earth Move, You’ve Got A Friend, (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman, It’s Too Late and Will You Love Me Tomorrow.
Vika Bull and Debra Byrne bring King’s Tapestry back-to-life with their light hearted banter and the seamless reimagining of the songs of Carole King - the most successful and revered female songwriter in pop music history.
Formidable household names, Vika Bull and Debra Byrne are revered for their vocal styles. Vika with her rich solo vocals and instinctive harmonies, is a multi-platinum artist who smashed onto the music scene in the late 80s, singing back-up vocals with her sister Linda in the blues-rock band The Black Sorrows. Vika has continued to forge a diverse pathway into soul, gospel, blues, country and the island music of her Tongan ancestry.
Debra Byrne needs no introduction. Becoming a household name on Young Talent Time in the 70’s and crowned queen of pop at age 16. Starring in blockbuster musicals and on numerous Australian screens and stages, Debra has forged a formidable career spanning decades. You could be excused for thinking Debra Byrne has already achieved it all. But she has described her upcoming performances of Tapestry as a career highlight.
The show will have you dancing in your seat as you sing along to songs from one of the most successful albums in music history. A great romantic gesture for Valentine’s Day or just fancy reminiscing.
