My Friend the Chocolate Cake warming audiences with ‘Winter Revival Tour’

Classic Australian pop noir group My Friend The Chocolate Cake are hitting the road again for a series of concerts this June and July performing songs from their highly acclaimed 2017 album, The Revival Meeting, alongside some old favourites from their extensive back catalogue.

After a successful national tour last year, 2018 sees the iconic sextet embark on The Winter Revival Tour, playing a string of shows throughout VIC, NSW and the ACT, including a concert at the ‘Blue Mountains Theatre’ in Springwood Fri 22nd June, as well as the City Recital Hall in Sydney and a return to the Melbourne Recital Centre.

The song writing genius of David Bridie combined with the glorious strings of Helen Mountfort's cello and Hope Csutoros' violin are high in the curious collision of elements that have made My Friend The Chocolate Cake a big concert draw, triple ARIA winners and a vivid presence on countless film and TV soundtracks for more than two and a half decades.

Their album history is a multi-dimensional mural of modern Australia that illustrates its geography, its political mores and its predominantly suburban identity, all by the kind of stealth that makes the most haunting, exhilarating and enduring pop music.

 The Winter Revival Tour 2018:

Friday 15 June - Capital Theatre, Bendigo VIC | Tickets
Friday 22 June - Blue Mountains Theatre, Springwood NSW | Tickets
Saturday 23 June - Canberra Theatre Centre, Canberra ACT | Tickets
Saturday 14 July - Melbourne Recital Centre, Melbourne VIC | Tickets
Friday 20 July - Lizotte's, Newcastle NSW | Tickets
Saturday 21 July - City Recital Hall, Sydney NSW | Tickets

Reviews from 2017’s tour:

"The six-piece's sound is a seamless fusion of baroque pop, world music melodies, and ambient textures, with Bridie's voice counterpointed by the strings of cellist Helen Mountfort and violinist Hope Csutoros." - The Sydney Morning Herald.

This album is a work of art, ... this is their best and their most accomplished album to date." - Spill Magazine.
