Penrith Conservatorium 2019 Music Scholarship Applications now open!

Penrith Conservatorium, housed at The Joan, is currently offering six highly sought-after Scholarships through a competitive application and live audition process. The Scholarships recognise future potential and provide the chance for students to take their gift to the next level, offering pathways to pursue a professional career in music.

Scholarships are open to all instruments including voice, however in 2019 the Conservatorium particularly encourages applications of woodwind, brass and orchestral percussion.

Candidates need to prepare two contrasting pieces of music that show their abilities in demonstrations of technical ability, musicality, expression, phrasing, sensitivity and solo performance technique.

The Conservatorium team of over 25 tutors have outstanding qualifications as both performers and teachers, offering individual tuition from beginner through to AMEB Grade 8 and beyond to concert standard. Many students go on to become musicians and music educators themselves, whilst many others enjoy the pleasure and excitement music brings into their everyday lives.

Enriching the lives of the local community for over 28 years through its passion for excellence in music education and performance, The Conservatorium has an ongoing commitment to developing and nurturing local talent.

“My scholarship has been amazing. I have gained opportunities from this in the Penrith Youth Orchestra and the Sydney Symphony Youth Orchestra holiday program. I have also progressed 2 grades in a year. The teachers and tutors at the Con are simply the best.” – Dominic Hart, 2018 Scholarship Recipient.

Big thanks to the generosity of the Conservatorium’s 2019 sponsors and partners; Penrith City Council, Berger Piepers, Ars Musica and the Joan Sutherland Foundation.
