The African Children’s Choir (ACC) is returning to the Mountains with a series of concerts starring Ubuntu, a troupe of talented high school graduates from Uganda and Kenya.
Since 2013, concerts in the Blue Mountains by children and young adults from the ACC have raised tens of thousands of dollars to educate extremely poor children in Africa from primary school to university.
In Australia ACC have sung with Jonathon Welch from the Choir of Hard Knocks, opera singer Deborah Cheetham and Kate Miller-Heidke.
The children from the ACC and the young adults of Ubuntu are inspired to aim for possibilities beyond the daily struggle to survive, and audiences are inspired by the talent, energy, happiness and hope of performers who have grown up in poverty.
Performer Emmanuel Mutsinzi, from a slum in Uganda’s capital, Kampala, says: “Making music brings many things to life. It heals, speaks to the broken-hearted and motivates people even when you least expect it to.”
