Punk's Not Dead, It's Frozen in Katoomba - blog post image

Punk's Not Dead, It's Frozen in Katoomba

Madam Fatalé are a young Blue Mountains punk-rock-pop band billed for the frosty Katoomba Winter Magic Festival. Members Luke Bindoff (Lead vocals/rhythm guitar), Josh Carr (Lead Guitar), Josh Bishop (Drums) and Robert Jinks (Bass Guitar) all met at high school and grew up listening to a variety of different styles of music and were all interested in playing music at a young age.

They've carved out a style and flavour reminiscent of the early '90s pop punk movement, particularly with heavy influence from early Green Day. With fist pumping, hard hitting punk stylings and aesthetics mixed with songs about Love, Laziness and Losers, onstage weirdness and other antics, Madam Fatalé are known for an entertaining show.

Luke chats candidly about the latest song he wrote called 'Are You Bored?', explaining its reflection on his youthful days growing up in Katoomba.

"It's quintessentially a song about being a teenager written by me over the years – actually about being a teenager and trying to cope with ideas and experiences involved with depression, love, loss, anxiety and familyand the emotional responses that drive a young person at that age," he says.

"As well as the sense of not belonging and wanting to 'disappear'. It's sort of an homage to how I felt as a teenager stuck in Katoomba as well as a sort of reflection of how I feel about the same situation as I am now."

The guys will definitely be bored if you don't show up to Main Stage this weekend at 11.05am and show your appreciation!
