Baldwins release debut EP 'Fear of Flying'

Sydney progressive-soul group Baldwins have released their bombastic debut EP “Fear of Flying”.

The group unleashed their brand of sensuous, soul groove earlier this year, with their banging lead single, ‘Goldbrick’, being placed on rotation by FBi Radio and the lush, jazz-tinged ‘Dirty Sheets’ getting attention on Triple J. Now the soul collective is back with an impressive 6-track under their belts.

"…Baldwins have crafted something wonderful with Goldbrick, a menagerie of delicious connections to musical delicacies old and new, and a fantastically unique, distinct and expressive debut." - Happy Mag.

Dirty Sheets – Baldwins
Citing eclectic influences such as Thundercat, Radiohead and D’Angelo, Baldwins' sound is one to be experienced; boasting a fiery rhythm section and soaring horn section, combined with the divine vocals of singer Courtney Josh. Whilst only 6 tracks, this release maintains the same intensity as most full-length albums. Starting with the tinkling Rhodes and boom bap drums with opener "Milk Beach" and finishing with the raucous guitars and out of control synths on "Yolanda", Fear of Flying certainly shapes up to be a formidable debut.

“I've already lost count of how many bodies are in this bloody band but I can tell you for sure that Courtney's vocals are a stand out.” – Dave Ruby Howe (Triple J Unearthed).

Baldwins will be heading on a 7-date east coast Australian tour to promote Fear of Flying in September. Performing at Katoomba’s Baroque Room September 22nd.
