Montgomery Church sliding to Mountains Shadow - blog post image

Montgomery Church sliding to Mountains Shadow

Tired of the hustle and bustle of our modern digital life and the mad commute up and down the mountain every day. Why not unplug & unwind for an evening of acoustic music at the delightful School of Arts building at Wentworth Falls.

A truly special evening will be presented by two acts among the finest purveyors in Australia of wood & strings with enchanting vocal things together on the one bill.

Genni Kane came into prominence in the Australian music scene in the 1980’s as a member of the ARIA Award winning band The Flying Emu’s. Genni has also written songs for artist such as Slim Dusty, Jimmy Little & Anne Kirkpatrick. In 2017 she released her own album entitled Selfies, a wonderful collection of witty ditties and poignant tales of life. She is currently recording a new batch of tunes. Jon Wilby is a multi-instrumentalist through whom music flows like a stream. He has a unique view of the world. His song writing is clever, raw, and funny especially when he gets into the nitty gritty of relationships, making a brave stand for the misunderstood husbands of this land.

Montgomery Church (Cielle Montgomery & James Church) are a roots based duo hailing from the Snowy Mountains of NSW. James who was originally from Bathurst is a maestro of the Dobro and slide. Cielle provides captivating vocals on the fine collection of well-crafted original songs that dominate their debut album In The Shadow of the Mountain. This couple have channelled their love of Americana and folk through the filter of their Snowy Mountain abode to deliver great tunes such as “Hot as Hell in Heaven” & “Your Troubled Mind”. They have also had praises heaped upon them by peers and journalists in national publications such as “Country Update” as well as receiving nominations for the Golden Guitar awards.
