The Joan: A Sunday Session with Australian Modern Jazz Sensation Stu Hunter

Following on from songstress Katie Noonan’s and classical guitarist Karin Schaupp’s performance. The Joan’s jazz infused Sunday Sessions continue with the trailblazing work of Stu Hunter’s 'the migration'.

On Sunday July 30th, indulge yourself in a “breath-taking musical roller-coaster of hard grooves and multiple sound textures challenging the notion of jazz and contemporary improvisation.” (AustralianJazz.Net) as Stu and a ten-piece band perform the migration, a soul-searching and cascading response to modern life, love and cultural complexity.

The migration is the third instalment in Stu Hunter’s series of acclaimed suites. His music has continued to receive high praise for his emotive melodies and sonic grooves. Lauded by Australian jazz composers ’the migration’ has been met with standing ovations.

This Sunday Session is not to be missed. On September 10th, the Joan will conclude its transformative jazz series with the Sydney World Music Chamber Orchestra’s 'Three Sides of Love and Death'.
