The Everglades displays artist Ron Fitzpatrick's works

Could you find a more better place than Everglades Historic House & Gardens, to showcase Ron Fitzpatrick’s alluring works? For a limited time, Ron’s medieval inspired sculptures can be found scattered along the winding walks of the gardens at the Everglades. Ron’s art is simply enchanting, becoming even more magical when surrounded by all the florals and lush greenery of the Everglades. You’ll feel as though you’ve slipped into Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings’ to meet some elves in Rivendell.

The exhibition is on display at the Everglades until October 8th ’17. Ron Fitzpatrick’s work can also be seen at The Talisman Gallery, behind the colonial-era sandstone buildings of Hartley.

A little more on the Everglades Historic House & Gardens

A cultural hub in the Mountains for decades, the Everglades in Leura is guaranteed to stun visitors with its buildings, gardens and the breathtaking views overlooking the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area. The property oozes charms, its 1930’s art-deco moderne-style house is surrounded by over 5ha of native bush and traditional gardens originally designed by Danish-born landscape gardener Paul Sorensen.

These magnificent inter-war period gardens feature formal European-style terraces and an array of footpaths that glimmer the many moods of the property, from the tranquil Reflection Pool amid towering trees, to the subtle charms of the lookout and the contemplative Grotto Pool.

Although so much is known about the historic property, The Everglades still holds a few secrets. We may never know why the property was ever christened as ‘Everglades’ by its original inhabitant, Georgina Stonier, back in 1923. As far as anybody knew, Georgina never ventured into the alligator swamps of Florida… Or did she?
