New joint exhibition opening

Blue Mountains Art Gallery swing into the season of summer with two new exciting exhibits.

Cloth: From Seeds to Bloom – an alluring newexhibit from textile artist Julie Paterson will be running at the gallery from 9 December 2017 – 28 January 2018 with a special opening by Steven Pozel, Creative Director and Innovation Strategist for the gallery. The exhibit traces over 20 years of work from blue mountains local Julie Paterson – who has become recognised as one of Australia’s most influential textile designers.

The Visitors exhibition sees contemporary artists Heidi Axelson and Hugo Moline dig into how humanity can interact and influence plant life through alternate means. It explores the encounters and exchanges between humans and the botanical world while asking the question, ‘rather than simply using plants to do things for us, could we work for them?’.

The exhibition investigates the potential of this ‘Plant agency’ in Katoomba and its surrounds. The Visitors will be opened by Conceptual Artist and Cultural Activist Ian Milliss and will be running at the gallery from 9 December 2017 – 14 January 2018.
